Medical Contact Lenses

Bifocal contact lenses provide special challenges. At Lens Design, we routinely fit many types of specialty bifocal and multi-focal contact lenses that truly work. Many other lenses are available for simple cosmetic use including numerous color fitting lenses that can turn dark colored eyes to blue, green and even purple. Along with simple cosmetic contact lenses we repair eyes that have been damaged and appear scarred. We will make a lens to match the good eye or refit both eyes for an effective cosmetic fit. High Index lenses for high prescription eye glasses must be fit with special frames and lenses. Fitting these lens prescriptions require diligent fitting and measurements. We have fit eyeglasses in excess on 20 diopters on numerous occasions.

The frame must fit exactly to eye size and facial measurements. The frames must also have small lens sizes to accommodate the high prescriptions. With small lens size, edge thickness of the lens can be greatly reduced. 

Lenses are custom fabricated per individual prescription. Use of high index lens materials will also help reduce the thickness of the lenses. High Index lenses now come with a refractive index as high as 1.9 on glass special orders and as high as 1.74 on plastic lenses. More info on Specialty Eyeglasses .

Low Vision Aids

Lens Design Ltd. is registered vendor with the Assistive Device Program (ADP) of Ontario. We provide both "high tech" and "low tech" low vision aids. "Low tech" vision aids consist of magnifiers, binoculars etc. "High tech" vision aids consist of computerized systems and brailers for reading and print enlargement. We have the experience to make sure you get the proper device to assist your special vision needs.
