Eye Anatomy Light Pathway - Follow the pathway of light through the eye.

  • Light enters through the cornea.

  • The amount of light entering the eye is modulated by the iris depending on brightness.

  • It then passes through the lens which focuses the incoming light on the retina.

  • The retina turns light into nerve impulses and sends it to the brain through the optic nerve.

Contact lenses - The contact lens sits on the cornea on top of a film of tears. The front surface on the contact lens remains wet allowing the tear film on the contact lens to become the first surface of refraction. The contact lens shape must conform to the shape of the cornea to maximize comfort and vision.
