Inside Out Contact
lenses
Are my contact
lenses inside out?
You
insert your contact lenses and it feels scratchy and blurry. It
could be possible that your contact lens is inside out.
You should always
check your lenses prior to insertion to make sure that the are not
inside out.
Hard lenses or
rigid gas permeable lenses generally can not be turned inside out.
It would take a great deal of force for this to happen and chances
are that the lens would be permanently damaged.
Soft lenses on the
other hand can easily be turned inside out. With the lens fully
soaked in saline, you will want to shake out the extra fluid. With
your finger tips patted dry, compare your lens to the diagram
to the right. You can try to fold the lens between your fingers
like a "taco". If the edges curl inwards, then the lens
is correct. You can also put the lens on the tip of your finger
and observe the bowl shape of the lens. If the lens is inside out
the edges will flair outward as in the second diagram.
